Superb house, fabulous location, house and kitchen in particular very well equipped and beautifully clean. Thank you so much for the generous and thoughtful welcome gifts of pretty flowers, delicious lemon cake, nice white wine and useful milk. The beds are very comfy, nice soft bed linen, plentiful hot water, great enclosed garden for the dogs. We will definitely come back to this beautiful house and the equally beautiful Widemouth Bay.
We had two fabulous meals at the Beach House, Widemouth Bay and they do great take away fish and chips and a fabulous fresh fish section within their shop.
Fabulous wallk from Marhamchurch, where you can leave your car and then walk along the canal into Bude, nice flat walk of about 2 miles. Can really recommend The Olive Tree for drinks and food, especially the Bailey's Iced Latte, which is equally as good when warm. The Farmshop just on the way in to Boscastle is terrific, great food and desserts and great things to take away but you need to get there before 12 noon if you want a table for lunch. Small but nice little market on a Friday morning in Bude, by the canal, near The Olive Tree, only about 8-10 stalls but lovely local crafts and food. Hope your holiday is as wonderful as ours has been!

An amazing house in a fantastic location, everything is clean and the house is spacious. The 2 minute walk to the beach is perfect for surfers and bodyboarders. We particularly recommend Trelawney Tea Rooms opposite the main car park for a cream tea! With 9 of us the house felt spacious and all of us had a fantastic time. The circular walk to Bude is fantastic in good weather, a nice 2 hr walk in total there and back with amazing views along the way. Padstow is also lovely with a nice 5 mile cycle from Wadebridge with plenty of pasty shops and ice creams. We will definitely look at coming back next year, we have thoroughly enjoyed our time here and the location is perfect.

Three generations enjoyed staying here. Lovely meal out at The Beach, Bude. Daytrips to Polkerris,Port Isaac, Ilfracombe and Padstow(high recommend The National Lobster Hatchery). Good cliff walks to Bude and Crackington Haven. Widemouth Bay Stores has great fish and can get in things to order, also does all the papers. We went swimming every day, body boards were great to have as the surf was a bit tempermental for surfing! Could do with some silencers on the bottom of the kitchen chairs but otherwise perfect house.

"Fabulous house by the sea"
Sarah Udall - Reviewed 11 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014
Absolutely fantastic house about 1 min walk to the Coastal Path and Widemouth Bay.
We were really blown away by the standard at Bay Retreat - couldn't have asked for anything more for a week's stay. Every detail had been thought of, the kitchen was really well stocked with everything you could possibly need and there are plenty of games, books, DVD's and video games to keep everybody entertained. Lovely bedrooms, underfloor heating downstairs, great wood burner and a great open space. Would be fabulous in summer to have BBQ's on the deck with the sea in the distance.
The location was great - 2 mins walk to the beach, and the coastal path (which is stunning in either direction), Bude centre is less than 10 mins away but to be honest we stuck to the local walks, The Bay Inn (very good), and ventured further afield (the walk from The Bush Inn at Morenstow highly recommended).
Really is a fabulous house and the managers are great - we had a very minor issue and they had someone out within 15 mins - exceptional!
Couldn't recommend highly enough.
