Holiday Rentals in Widemouth Bay, Bude Surfing Holidays in Widemouth Bay, Bude One of our favourite beaches in the Bude area is ‘Widemouth Bay’, a mile-long sandy beach and stunning bay just 3 miles South of Bude on the rugged North Cornish Coast.

Widemouth Bay is recognised as one of the top destinations for a Surfing Holiday in Cornwall, with a natural draw for surfers who will experience a variety of peaks along the bay, breaking on sand or reef and producing spilling or barrelling waves.

Not only surfers, but Widemouth is also extremely popular for families who want a proper beach holiday in Bude; somewhere to relax or play on the beach, explore the rock pools at low tides, walk along the dramatic coastal path, grab lunch, a coffee or ice cream and enjoy the outdoors…

Situated on both sides of Widemouth Bay are elevated car parking areas (free!) offering breath-taking panoramic views over the whole bay and up, or down, the Coast! These parking areas are excellent rest spots, ideal to park and enjoy the coastal path or often attended by an ice-cream van.

The beach is considered safe for bathing and swimming which is patrolled in the summer month by RNLI lifeguards who will usually indicate safe swimming zones between 2 red and yellow flags.

Dog owners should be aware there are dog restrictions on the main beach between Easter and the end of September, however they welcome all-year round at ‘Black Rock’ area of Widemouth Bay (Southern side). Breakwater Holidays are pleased to offer dog friendly self-catering in Widemouth Bay – because you wouldn’t leave one of the kids behind would you!!!
