What does Breakwater Holidays offer that other holiday companies do not?

We are a small company dedicated to providing excellent accommodation in superior houses in a wonderful Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We know each of our houses intimately and ensure that they are of the highest standard for our guests. We have an unrivalled knowledge of the area and each of our houses which means we are in a perfect position to advise potential guests of what is best suited to their requirements.

What is special about the area?

Bude is a bustling town set on the edge of the Atlantic on Cornwall's north coast. There are numerous quality restaurants in the town and nearby, with a good selection of local shops to cater for all your needs. There is much to do either in the town or within a short distance. The Eden Project, National Marine Museum, Lanhydrock House, Lost Gardens of Heligan are but a few of the many attractions nearby and there is, of course, the ocean itself on our doorstep!

What can we do when we are on holiday in Bude?

Apart from the obvious attraction of the ocean where surfing lessons can be arranged with top quality instructors, there is nearby golf, riding, bicycle trails, sailing on the Fal – the list is endless. The wonderful coastal walks are the envy of many and we are right on the South West Peninsula Path that stretches from Minehead to Poole.

How safe are the beaches?

The beaches around Bude are safe providing sensible precautions are taken. All our local beaches are served by RNLI lifeguards throughout the school holidays and main summer season. There is also one of the few outdoor remaining sea pools in Bude which has lifeguards during opening hours. This is perfect for young children and for those learning to swim.

What do you offer in the houses?

Included in the price of your holiday will be all Egyptian cotton bedding and linen. Thick, fluffy house towels, a bath and hand towel per guest, White Company soaps and toiletries, all utility costs such as hot water, electricity, heating and a bag of logs in the winter months. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and milk will be in the house on your arrival and during the main summer season, July and August, we also offer a ready made vegetable lasagne and chilled bottle of wine on the first night of your holiday.

What do we need to do when we leave the property?

We ask that you bag all your rubbish in the black bags left for you and leave them out for collection. We are very happy to take your recycling and these can be left separately. We ask that you leave the house in a tidy fashion and respect that we need to have the house cleaned in a short space of time for the next guests.

What happens if we have to cancel our holiday?

We have an excellent and highly reputed insurance broker in the town. We highly recommend that you take out travel and cancellation insurance through him at the time of booking. Should you have to cancel your booking, and you have not taken out insurance, we will expect you to pay the balance of the moneys owed to us unless we are able to relet your holiday for you. This is often possible but cannot be guaranteed. Consequently we feel it imperative that you do take out cancellation insurance as a safeguard.

What happens if something goes wrong with the house during our stay?

We have an emergency telephone number that you can ring if you arrive and find something not right with your house. If anything ceases to function properly during your stay we will endeavour to have it fixed as soon as possible.
